Danaher to Acquire Dentrix

Posted by dentalinsider on January 4, 2007

Both Sakaduski Marketing and Dr. Lorne Lavine of the Digital Dentist are reporting that Danaher will be acquiring Dentrix’ digital x-ray and imaging business. Although a check of the Danaher website has no information about this story, a formal announcement will most likely be coming shortly. Danaher purchased the Dexis company in 2005 and Dexis products have been sold exclusively through Sullivan-Schein since early 2006. I have heard as recently as a few weeks ago that Dexis would be opened up to all of the Kavo/Gendex dealers starting in February 2007.

More information to follow as details become available.

DENTRIX DENTAL SYSTEMS, INC. TRANSFERS PROPRIETARY
DENTAL IMAGING BUSINESS TO DEXIS, LLC
Des Plaines, January 2, 2007 DEXIS, LLC, and Dentrix Dental Systems, Inc., a
division of Henry Schein, Inc., today announce an agreement to transfer Dentrix’s
proprietary dental imaging business to DEXIS. The products to be transferred include
the Dentrix® ImageRAYi and easyRAY sensors, Image CAM HD intra-oral camera, the
award-winning Dentrix® Image software and easyImage software. The combined
product portfolio will continue to be exclusively distributed through Sullivan Schein
    Dental™, a Henry Schein division.
“DEXIS, LLC and Sullivan Schein Dental have enjoyed a successful exclusive
distribution partnership since 2005”, states Mike Donohoe, President of DEXIS. As their
relationship has developed, both companies wanted to further improve services to their
customers by recognizing and leveraging their respective strengths. “DEXIS® has
established broad followership since it introduced the world’s most awarded intra-oral
sensor solution in 1995”, continued Mr. Donohoe. “This combination of our resources
and expertise will strengthen our team and product portfolio even more, and help us
offer our customers world class imaging solutions in the future”. In assuming ownership
of Dentrix® branded imaging solutions, DEXIS plans to work closely with Sullivan Schein
Dental and Dentrix® Dental Systems to ensure that Dentrix® Image software continues
to be supported and closely integrated with Dentrix® Practice Management software.
Dentrix Dental Systems’ world-class practice management software and services
business remains independent from this agreement. Dentrix Dental Systems will
continue to offer and support Dentrix® practice management and Easy Dental® practice
management and related services. The company’s mission is to help its practitioners
automate the management of their practices with technology and related services. “This
agreement combines the strengths of three market leaders”, states Tim Sullivan,
President of Sullivan Schein Dental, “and enables Sullivan Schein Dental to offer the
best solutions of both practice management and digital imaging to its customers”.
Dentrix and DEXIS will continue to offer and support the products they sell today and
serve their existing customers. DEXIS, LLC, is a leading developer, manufacturer, and
marketer of innovative digital x-ray systems, sold under the DEXIS® and DEXcare®
brand names. Dentrix® Dental Systems is the leading developer, manufacturer, and
marketer of award-winning practice management solutions offered exclusively by
    Sullivan Schein Dental.
