Clean Those Waterlines

Posted by dentalinsider on July 22, 2006

Bacterial build up in dental unit water lines has been a problem for some time. Over the years, many products have entered and exited the market. Adec’s ICX tablets, Bioblue, Sterilex just to name a few. Here in California, only Sterilex and a newcomer, CitriSil by Sterisil, are approved for use in treating biofilm in dental water lines. I saw Citrisil at the CDA meeting in Anaheim back in April. At that time, it was the only product approved for use in California. The concept is simple, once a month you use an enhanced cleaning tablet to remove deposits and then you add a tablet everyday to your water bottle. It is safe for the patients and has no effect on your restorations. Marus, DCI and Pelton and Crane equipment include a sample box with each new dental unit purchased. Do yourself a favor and check out Citrisil, maintenance has never been easier. Available through most dental supply dealers.
